Why is the usa the richest country, but the people here work more hours than any other country?

The people in Europe, MiddleEast and other countries have less working hours in a day, less working days in a week, and they have longer vacation days than all Americans. Why is it that these other countries applauds leisure and the usa wants people to work overtime, triple time and we end up with depressed, overburdened, exhuasted people. In addition, our kids spend more time in daycare and we are emotionally warped. Why is this and we are SUPPOSED TO BE THE RICHEST COUNTRY.
