Do you think its right that it is easier for lawyers to become politicians than it is for doctors?

There are doctors in the (UK) House of Commons, and some of them are independent, having no party affiliation. There are many more lawyers. But a legislature is in the business of making laws. I would prefer a houseful of lawyers, as this is more likely to produce workable laws. But maybe, as a law student, I could be biased.
