What is a concave mirror?

If you cut a sphere into two halves, one bigger and one smaller, and take the smaller one, coat it with mercury outside the curved surface and then look inside, you are looking at a concave mirror! Many of the dish antennas used in radars and the mirrors used in big telescopes are concave mirrors.
